Gucci’s 60s Inspired Collection Was Psychedelic Business Casual

One of the best things about fashion month for those of us here in Australia While it provides those in Europe and America insights into what they’ll be wearing next year, we can find inspiration and summer trends to wear as we move into the holiday season. And the Gucci SS25 runway held at Milan Fashion Week brought plenty to the table.

The show, that had a front row packed with everyone from Dakota Johnson to Nicola Coughlan, was full of loose 60s cuts that skimmed the body and a whirlwind of colours and textures. Structured skirt suits were adorned with sequins, and sat low on the hips, skimming the body.

It was a 60s White Lotus energy that Sabato De Sarno, creative director at Gucci described the collection as “casual grandeur”; it was a little big white lotus, Jackie Onassis on vacation or Audrey Hepburn kicking back in St. Barthes.

De Sarno said was inspired by “the moment the sun dives into the sea at the end of an August day” for the collection. It was runway dominated by hazy sunset tones and relaxed cuts perfect for end-of-year soirees (the relaxed sequined skirt suit is the stuff of beachside New Year’s-eve party dreams).

Amongst the sparkles and glamour were low-slung trousers and baggy jeans, loose tanks, and sheer, floating fabrics we’ll be easily incorporating into day-to-day looks. And De Sarno wasn’t afraid to clash colour the house’s signature burgundy-red and glowing ochres paired with neon kitten heels and mini skirts.

These relaxed cuts were paired with square zebra print carry-alls, signature horse-bit handbags pointed-toe heels, and brogues. The look was booked, busy, with an out of office on.

The collection was polished psychedelia and we’re absolutely here for it.
